Design the recipe, scale the batch, price the bag โ where perfect ratios make perfect mix.
REMEMBER: A ratio is a multiplying relationship.
To scale a recipe, multiply BOTH parts by the same number โ adding the same amount
to both parts changes the taste! A unit rate tells you the amount
for exactly ONE. And percent just means "per 100."
Part 1 ยท The Recipe Mixer
Build your signature mix! Set the cups of ๐ฅ peanuts
and ๐ raisins in ONE batch, then crank up the batch
count. The double number line and ratio table stay locked to your recipe โ watch
how everything scales by multiplying.
Part 2 ยท The Taste Tester's Challenge
Batches roll off the line claiming to match the official recipe. Some are honest
scale-ups... some are BROKEN. Commit your verdict before the reveal โ
then the tester divides each ingredient to expose the truth.

Part 3 ยท Factory Machines
Three machines keep the factory running. Feed each one your numbers โ every
machine prints its steps and the why.
A shipment of bags and its total cost go in โ BOTH unit rates come out.
Give it the recipe and how many cups of peanuts the order needs โ it finds the multiplier, then the raisins.
Percent means per 100. This machine runs both directions: find the part, or find the whole.

๐ Word Box
Ratio
A multiplying comparison between two quantities, written 3:2, 3 to 2, or 3/2. Order matters!
Equivalent ratios
Ratios that describe the same relationship, made by MULTIPLYING both parts by the same number: 3:2 = 6:4 = 9:6.
Rate
A ratio comparing two DIFFERENT kinds of units, like dollars per bag or miles per hour.
Unit rate
A rate scaled down so the second quantity is exactly 1 โ the price of ONE bag, the miles in ONE hour.
Double number line
Two parallel number lines whose tick marks stay lined up โ a picture of two quantities scaling together.
Ratio table
A table of equivalent ratios. Every column is the recipe multiplied by some number.
Tape diagram
A bar cut into equal pieces showing a ratio's parts โ 3 peanut pieces and 2 raisin pieces make a 3:2 mix.
Percent
A ratio out of 100. 30% means 30 per every 100 โ as a decimal, 0.30.
