πŸ₯€ Smoothie Stand Tycoon

Run the stand. Set the price. Master rates, proportions, and percents!

REMEMBER: A relationship is proportional when doubling one amount doubles the other. Its graph is a straight line through (0, 0), and its rule is y = kx. The number k is the price of just ONE.

Part 1 Β· Set Your Smoothie Price

You own the stand! Slide to set the price of one smoothie β€” that price is k, the constant of proportionality. Watch the table and graph change together. Then try turning on the $3 delivery fee and see what breaks.

Price of 1 smoothie (k): $3.50
Smoothies (x)Total cost (y)

Part 2 Β· Proportional or Not?

A rival stand shows you their price tables. Some are proportional. Some hide a trick! Study the table and commit to your answer first β€” then we’ll check every ratio y Γ· x together.

Correct calls: 0

Part 3 Β· The Tycoon Machines

Three tools every tycoon needs. Each one shows every step and the why β€” not just the answer.

Example: blend 1/2 cup of berries in 1/4 hour. Type numbers as decimals (0.5), fractions (1/2), or mixed numbers (1 1/2).

A customer’s order, a coupon, tax, and a tip. Watch how each percent gets its own step β€” and which price it acts on.

Your smoothie profits can grow! Simple interest uses the formula I = p Γ— r Γ— t: principal Γ— rate Γ— time.

Part 4 Β· Tycoon Challenge Quiz

Question 1 of 10 Score: 0

πŸ“— Word Box

Unit rate
How much for exactly ONE β€” one hour, one pound, one smoothie. Find it by dividing: total Γ· how many.
Proportional
Two amounts grow together by multiplying. Double one, and the other doubles too. Every y Γ· x gives the same number.
Constant of proportionality (k)
The one number that connects x and y in y = kx. It's the unit rate β€” the value of ONE.
Origin
The point (0, 0) on a graph. Every proportional line must pass through it: zero smoothies cost zero dollars.
Percent
A part out of 100. To use one in math, turn it into a decimal: 8% = 0.08.
Discount
Money taken OFF a price. 25% off means you keep paying 75% β€” multiply by 0.75.
Simple interest
Extra money your savings earns: I = p Γ— r Γ— t (money saved Γ— yearly rate Γ— years).
Percent change
How much something grew or shrank, compared to where it STARTED: change Γ· original Γ— 100.
